When religion stops being the opium of peoples: the PCE and the attempted rapprochement to Catholics in the Sixties
This research analyses how the PCE, since the inauguration of its National Reconciliation Policy, started a rapprochement strategy towards Catholics, which culminated in the Sixties. In particular, the study examines how closer relations between these two ideological families — which for a certain period did take place in the Trade Union area, especially in CCOO — unlike what PCE hoped for, never reached a genuinely political level and therefore did not lead to any wide-scope agreement.
