The Extraits Mortuaires of Genoa State Archives: the soldiers from the Genoa and Apennine Departments who died in Spain (1808-1814)
The article analyzes the Extrait Mortuaires of the Napoleonic soldiers from Genoa and the Apennine Departments who fought in Spain. These interesting documents, currently part of the Prefettura Francese fund of the Genoa State Archives, contain the names of 881 men and 2 women (see complete list in the appendix). The data provided by these valuable certificates, which include the regiment the soldiers belonged to and the causes of their death, allows determining the statistical distribution of these troops in the various regiments that fought on the Spanish front.
