The Educational Plan for Spanish Guinea by a Progressive Teacher: Cándido López Uceda
Keywords:
Colonialism, Spanish Guinea, Teaching Regulations of 1928, Catholic Missions, General Directorate of Marocco and ColoniesAbstract
The article focuses on the role that Cándido López Uceda played in the educational reform of the Spanish Territories of the Gulf of Guinea, proposed in 1926 by the General Directorate of Morocco and Colonies. The educational reform in Spanish Guinea was part of a general plan aimed at expanding colonial businesses, whose viability required having a basic supply of middle-grade technicians, to be trained from the local population. At the same time, the article aims to cover the void that exists regarding the figure of this prominent Granada pedagogue, targeted by Franco’s regime for his leftist republicanism.
