Abstract
The article analyses the economics’ studies at Salamanca’s University of General Manuel Belgrano, one of the leaders of Argentina’s independence, between 1786 and 1788. Besides being an important leader, Belgrano was also the main representative of the Enlightenment in the Rio de la Plata region, especially spreading the economics’ principles at local level. The essay stresses the hypothesis that Belgrano’s Spanish higher education has had a much bigger impact than traditionally thought.
