Resumen

Álvaro Cunqueiro. Giornalismo e politica (1930-1940)

The essay studies the Galician writer Álvaro Cunqueiro, for too long discriminated for political and aesthetical reasons. An investigation into Cunqueiro’s journalistic production during the Spanish Civil War shows how his support to Franco’s cause was purely local, and not born out of true belief. Cunqueiro’s writings in many different Francoist papers (“Era Azul”, “El Pueblo Gallego”, “La Voz de España”, “Vértice”, “ABC”, “Arriba”) show his attempt in building up an ideological reliability for himself repeating the Falange’s platitudes in order to cancel his past regional stance, which made him suspicious to the régime’s eyes. But, once gained some credibility within the Francoist surroundings, he left politics and gave himself only to literature.
