Resumen

¿Alianza entre trono y altar?La Iglesia y la política fiscal de Fernando VII en la diócesis de Toledo (1814-1820)

Fernando VII’s fiscal policy was particularly strong against the Church. Seemingly respecting the clergy’s immunities, Fernando obtained from the Pope many breves which compelled the priests to pay a contribution and a newly created subsidy. And as for worsening the Estate’s disposition, the Monarchy did not waste many efforts for protecting the tithes’ collection. Considering all these facts, the Author proposes a new assessment of the alliance between Throne and Altar.
