The Carlists and the Election of the King (1870)
In the context of the recent historiography on nineteenth-century reactionary movements, the article analyzes the behavior of Carlism in the test of the liberal- democratic revolution of the Sexenio. In particular, it is observed how Catholic- monarchist deputies act within the Cortes Constituyentes on the fundamental question of the election of the new king, maintaining their condemnation of parliamentarianism.
