Abstract
Entre la revolución y la reacción: aproximación al significado histórico de la Junta Suprema de Sevilla en el contexto del fin del antiguo régimen en España
Sevilla’s Junta Suprema was born in May 1808, during the anti-Napoleonic uprising which then became the Spanish Independence War (1808-1814). The Junta proclaimed itself as “Suprema”, thus pretending to show its hegemony over all other Juntas and to lead the movement against the French. Many historians say the Sevilla’s Junta represented the Old Order’s interests, whilst for other it was a truly revolutionary body. The Author argues that it was something in the middle preaching for the revival and reform of the Spanish monarchy.
