Il Collegio di Spagna di Bologna. Prestigio e tradizione di un’istituzione albornoziana
Abstract
The Spanish College of Bologna, prestige and tradition of an Albornoz institution
In this text we have tried to go through the main stages that marked the history of Bologna’s Collegio Albornoziano, underlining the importance that this institution had, and, today still has in the education of Spanish main political and cultural elites. This Collegio, founded in 1365 by will of Cardinal Gil de Alboronoz, was built with the aim of guaranteeing a stable and continuative presence to the group of Spanish students that came over the city to study. The bases to the creation of this building in 1369 were the prestige of the Studio Bolognese and the historical facts connected to the presence of Albornoz Cardinal. In the essay you can also find parts of Albornoz’s Statutes and Rules that were followed throughout the centuries and that clearly remark the conservative and catholic side of the institution, that nowadays is still completely disconnected to a direct governamental control and is indipendent in its selective and organizational choices.
