Abstract

The movie trade between Spain and Italy in early Francoism (1940-1960). The Spanish view

In the Fifties the need for each country to capitalize on its movie production by means of export results in bilateral agreements aimed at securing a market share abroad. Since 1948, Spain and Italy had been signing theirs, which turned to be highly beneficial and profitable for both movie industries.

    Josefina Martínez insegna Storia contemporanea presso l’UNED di Madrid. Si occupa di storia del cinema e ha pubblicato varie monografie fra cui Los primeros veinticinco años del cien en Madrid, 1896-1920 (Madrid, 1992), Los guerreros en las sombras. El documental durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial (Madrid, 1995). È consulente cinematografica di Televisión Española per vari documentari storici e ha diretto diversi documentari trasmessi da TVE 2.
