The long voyage through Falangism: SEU’s Primera Línea and the internal dissent in the Fifties

When Fascism seemed to have been eradicated from Europe, it revived in Spain in the Fifties, as soon as a generation of youth imbued with Phalangist ideas started University. Ruiz-Giménez’s contemporary cultural renovation project allowed them to develop an ambitious cultural offensive from within Universities and set up SEU’s Primera Línea as a space for political reaffirmation and they were forced, just like their Italian counterparts in the Thirties, to choose between adhesion and dissent.
