Pictures of the Italian expatriate community in Spain (1922-1945). A visual memory of the colony under fascism
Photography has been recognized as an essential documentary source for research. In the case of Fascism it is even more valuable, since iconic representations are one of the major tools used by the regime to build consensus and a common identity. This article deals with 23 pictures from different archives and originally produced by Italian expatriates in Spain under Fascism in order to contribute to a better insight and popularization of the totalitarian ideology.
