Abstract

Language rights and cultural diversity. Italy, Spain and Europe (1945-1992)

The article identifies similarities, differences and mutual influences between Italy and Spain in terms of recognition of cultural diversity and protection of language rights. The comparison has been carried out from a European perspective, taking into account constitutional norms and provisions contained in statutes of Regions and Autonomous Communities on “language right protection” and “language standardization”.

    Marco Stolfo è dottore di ricerca in Storia del federalismo e dell’unità europea e titolare del modulo Jean Monnet Multilingualism, Multicultural Citizenship and European Integration presso l’Università di Udine. È autore, fra l’altro, delle monografie Lingue minoritarie e unità europea. La ‘Carta di Strasburgo’ del 1981 (Milano, 2005), Si ses europeu, faedda in sardu (Ghilarza, 2009) e Occitania, Friuli, Europa. La mia lingua suona il rock (Torino, 2012).
