Abstract

A rojo in the Falange. The Fascist Drift of Óscar Pérez Solís

The political career of Óscar Pérez Solís was certainly peculiar. In 1912 he leaves the Army to embrace socialism; in 1921 he is one of the founders of the Communist Party of Spain; in 1928 he converts to catholicism and abjure com- munism; in 1936 he is involved in the coup against the Second Spanish Repub- lic. He died in 1951 as a Phalange’s propagandist. This article examines the ideological drift of Pérez Solís — that was not the only one in interwar Europe — and the moments of change that allowed his conversion to fascism.
