Abstract

«An advance of what we hope will give the future Nation». Political Socia- lization in the Youth Organizations of Spanish Fascism, 1936-1945

Like other fascisms, Falange Española (FE) gave youth a central importance. Following closely the Italian and German models, Falangist youth organizations had to form and indoctrinate the future generations of the Spanish “New State”, both male and female ones. This article presents the FE’s forms of youth socialization, distinctly nationalistic and militaristic, through symbols, camps, marches, the cult of the leader and the cult of the “fallen”, highlighting the similarities with other European fascist youth organizations.

Toni Morant i Ariño, Universitat de València

Toni Morant i Ariño è professore e ricercatore post-dottorale nel Settore Sto- ria contemporanea dell’Università di Valencia. La sua tesi di dottorato riguardava i rapporti tra le organizzazioni femminili del fascismo spagnolo e del nazismo tra il 1936 e il 1945. È stato docente in varie università tedesche e ha effettuato vari soggiorni di ricerca in Germania, Italia e Austria. Suo principale interesse di ricerca sono i fascismi europei in una prospettiva transnazionale.
