The Eldorado of the Risorgimento in Exile: Transatlantic Adventures between Spain, England and Mexico (1820-1830)
Abstract
By following a few years in the biographical trajectories of Fiorenzo Galli, Carlo Vidua and Vincenzo Rivafinoli, who were involved in very different ways in the experience of Risorgimento exile and liberal revolutions, we gain multiple channels to explore the cultural, political, economic and spiritual changes emerging in the Hispanic world, starting from Catalonia to Mexico and branching out elsewhere. The contradictory sensitivity of these romantic pioneers of Nineteenth-century globalisation reveals neglected links between political changes in the long transition of the Age of Revolutions and important transformations in other, non-political fields.
