«There Are No Victims Without Perpetrators». Some Historiographical Reflections on Francoist Violence During the Civil War and the Early Franco Regime
Keywords:
Perpetrators, Francoist Violence, Historical Revision, Perpetrator StudiesAbstract
Our article has several objectives: first, to reflect on the reasons for the limited historiographical and social attention given to the topic of Francoist perpetrators. Second, to classify the studies conducted so far on these executioners. Finally, to highlight the potential and limitations of an approach focused on the study of these actors in order to renew our understanding of violence in mid-20th century Spain. The analysis will be based on a critical review of the existing scholarly literature and on reflections drawn from our own research.
