La percezione dell’Italia del Risorgimento nei viaggiatori spagnoli (1857-1873)
Abstract
The Spanish travellers’ perception of the Italian Risorgimento (1857-1873)
The images and myths that the Spaniards worked out of the Italian national movement played a remarkable historical role, since they represented true political models for the Spain in crisis of the late Isabelian era. Spanish travellers would visit Italy not only on account of her impressive art and past, but attracted by what appeared to their eyes a new laboratory for the future. The viability of the Italian models, differentiated along ideological lines, would be put to a test throughout the six-year democratic period.
