Don Carlos e i «nuovi mori». La prima guerra carlista nella pubblicistica reazionaria italiana dell’epoca
Resumen
Don Carlos and the “New Moors”. The First Carlist in the coeval italian reactionary publications.
The first Carlist war (1833-1840) gave rise to a remarkable interest and passion in Italy. Once the importance of this war outside the borders of Spain was understood, the reactionary Italianpress committed itself to the support of the Pretendiente with a lot of articles and pamphlets. This essay aims to delineate the arguments and language used by such publicists for subduing or at least affecting the public opinion in favour of don Carlos, in order to avoid that a liberal and laical turn in Spain could give voice to those asking for a change in Italy too.
