Translation and Censorship of Alberto Moravia’s Texts during the Francoism (1941-1960)
The analysis of the intervention of Franco’s censorship in the Spanish translations of Alberto Moravia’s works between 1941-1960, which are based on documents kept in the Archivo General de la Administración, allows us to reconstruct aspects that go beyond the literary reception of this author in Spain. From a number of Moravia works censored at the end of the 50s and the first years of the 60s, this study evidences the high degree of intrusion that the Church enjoyed on the book-related policies and the reading practices during that particular period.
