El movimiento obrero en España anterior a la Primera Internacional
Abstract
El movimiento obrero en España anterior a la Primera Internacional
The essay, mainly based on bibliographical research, investigates the early birth of textile workers’ unions in Barcelona, before 1840. These movements, chiefly based on mutual aid, were frequently forced to survive underground with the support of the first democratic and republican factions. The mutual aid movements and the resistance societies offered two different and often conflicting models for the organization of the Barcelona working class, the most active within all the Spanish workers.
