Foreign policy and the international dimension of Italian Social Republic. Relations with Spain
The creation of the Italian Social Republic in September 1943 was the last at- tempt to revive Fascism, but also marked the end of Mussolini’s foreign policy. A puppet regime of the Reich, the ISR was recognized internationally only by the Tripartite Pact countries, while Spain granted the Fascist republic de facto recognition, which enabled it not to play the role of a political interlocutor, but rather an administrative role, to protect the Italian communities still loyal to the Fascist cause.
