Worker fights and Francoism. Hispano Olivetti in Barcelona (1946-1975)
Hispano Olivetti was a leading company in the Barcelona area under Francoism and the stronghold of worker protest in the city. Like other Italian multinational companies that thrived in Francoist Spain, its business success can be ascribed as much to a modern organization as to a backward and authoritarian trade union legislation. For the first time this text explores worker antagonism in Hispano Olivetti, highlighting the increased expectations of the subjects involved, who clashed with government repression and the enforcement of a legislation which significantly thwarted their action.
