Abstract

Carlism and social catholic restoration in early Francoism

This article analyzes Carlists’ participation in the Catholic social restoration boosted by the Francoist State and the Catholic church after the Civil War and in the early days of the regime. Although Carlists supported the implementation of the old integrist project, some Carlist groups tried to adapt to the regime while others, under the guidance of Comunión Tradicionalista leader Manuel Fal Conde, tried to differentiate themselves from Francoist statism and the Phalangist religious policy.

Antonio Manuel Moral Roncal, Università di Alcalá de Henares

Antonio Moral Roncal, addottoratosi in Storia presso l’Università Autonoma di Madrid, insegna Storia contemporanea nell’Università di Alcalá de Henares. Si occupa di storia del carlismo e dell’asilo politico diplomatico e consolare durante la Guerra civile del 1936-39. Vincitore di vari premi (Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura, 1994, Campomanes de Investigación Histórica, 1990 y 1992, Premio Internacional Luis Hernando de Larramendi de Historia del Carlismo, 1999 e del Premio Nacional de Investigación en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales del Ejército, 2013), è autore di numerose pubblicazioni, tra le quali sono da segnalare Las guerras carlistas (Madrid, Sílex, 2006) y La cuestión religiosa en la II República Española. Iglesia y carlismo (Madrid, Biblioteca Nueva, 2009). È direttore della rivista “Historia Abierta”.
