The Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya lived, from the seventies, a deep process of ideological and organizational renewal in which the example of the Italian Communist Party played an important role. The PCI became a model in terms of political culture and theoretical production, but it was above all the experience of government of the Italian communists in important cities and regions that constituted a practical example in which the Catalan communists were inspired to trace his proposals for the construction of democracy in Catalonia and its municipalities.
