Abstract

Pro Aris et Focis. Anti-internationalist Propaganda in Spain (1871-1874)

This article aims to investigate the Anti-Internationalist propaganda that emerged in Spain in 1871, after the repression of the Paris Commune. As such, this work relates to intellectual productions, or associative and cultural initiatives which pursued the demonisation of the First International. This kind of propaganda will be analysed through its peculiar interpretations and representations of the internatio- nalist universe; with a specific attention on the nineteenth-century counter-revolutionary tradition. Eventually, I will examine how this propaganda influenced the repressive actions implemented by the Spanish State against the First International.
