Abstract

The Spanish Communist Party’s cadres school during the Civil War

This essay aims to offer its contribution to the efforts made by historians to trace the formation process of the Spanish Communist Party’s cadres in the Civil War years. Using the documents in Salamancas’s Archivo Histórico Nacional - Sección Guerra Civil and also the ones in the Archivo Histórico del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de España the Author studies the Pee’s middle cadres schools during the war. He deals especially with the day by day operations of the schools, with its relationship with the local reality, on how the pupils were chosen. Some attention is also given to the pupils’ social extraction and on the literature used by the teachers. This analysis bears also in mind the international debate on the experience of the Popular Fronts.
