The article deals with the Empresa nacional Siderúrgica S.A. (ENSIDESA)’s creation in the Fifties. Franco’s personal intervention and the influence he exercised through Suanzes, his jack of all trades, are well pointed out. The Author investigates every aspect of the actual construction, the place’s localization, and the stories of many workers, a lot of them emigrants, who built the factory whilst living in wretched conditions.
