Abstract
The growing attention given by Spanish historians to the transition to democracy has mainly dwelt on the analyisis of its political and social aspects, but it does not happen the same for what concerns other no less important transitions, like the one experimented by the employers. The political uncertainty, the severe economic crisis and the radicalization of the still illegal workers’ unions brought on the quick formal structuring of employers’ interest groups which finally entered a central organization, the CEOE (Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales). The essay sketches a first analysis of such a process from a regional perspective on one hand because transition was accompanied by a political decentralisation process, on the other because there was a real need for these new associations to keep in a close and daily contact with the members in order to guarantee its own para asegurar su cohesión interna y fortalecer su legitimidad frente a los poderes públicos y a los sindicatos.
