The Letters Exchanged between Quintín de Torre and Miguel de Unamuno Contextualised in the Civil War around Espinosa de los Monteros
Neither manuals nor specific studies on the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939 focus in detail on the events that took place on the Cantabrian front around the town of Espinosa de los Monteros, Burgos. The present work, which is based mainly on reading the press, describes the war events that took place from July 1936 to August 1937 in this town in the province of Burgos. Its detailed account serves to contextualise the content of the letters exchanged in December of the first year mentioned between the native of Bilbao sculptor Quintín de Torre, in Espinosa, and Miguel de Unamuno, in Salamanca. The said, which has not been considered until now, gives light to Miguel’s explosive missive of the 13th of the last month of 1936.
